How to solve a daily whodunit puzzle

01

Read the case file

Begin with a short set of honest clues about five suspects. Each clue rules something in or out, so you never need hidden trivia, lucky guesses, or information from outside the puzzle.

02

Test each possibility

Use the logic grid to match suspects with the details in the case. Mark what must be true, rule out contradictions, and revise your notes as the remaining possibilities narrow toward one answer.

03

Name the culprit

Accuse only when every clue agrees with your solution. If you get stuck, reveal a gradual hint instead of the answer. After solving, share the spoiler-free result grid so friends can compare their approach.

Questions for new detectives

Can I play without signing in? +

Yes. Open today's case and start solving as a guest; no account is required for the grid, lateral mystery, or free Crime Scene levels. Sign in if you want to keep a streak, appear on the leaderboard, or open a theme pack you purchased.

Is EveryClue like Clues by Sam or Murdle? +

They share the pleasure of eliminating suspects from a clue-based mystery. EveryClue is built as a daily web game, adds a separate yes-or-no lateral mystery and a spatial Crime Scene mode, and publishes playable versions in eight languages.

How do you know each whodunit has one solution? +

Before a grid is published, a logic solver checks the full clue set. The case only goes live when those clues lead to one valid solution, which means you can solve by deduction instead of guessing what the puzzle writer intended.

What can I play for free? +

Today's whodunit grid and lateral mystery are free, as are the most recent seven days in the archive and all 100 Crime Scene levels. Theme packs are optional one-time purchases, while Sleuth+ adds the full archive and global leaderboard.

What is a daily whodunit puzzle? +

It is a short detective logic game with a new case every day. You read factual clues, compare suspects and case details, remove combinations that cannot be true, and identify the only culprit who fits all the evidence.

Is there a time limit or a penalty for using hints? +

There is no time limit, so you can solve at your own pace. Hints reveal progressively stronger guidance when you are stuck. Your result can show the time and hints used, but neither prevents you from finishing the case.
